HOW IT WORKS:
Client pets deserve the best – it’s simple! That’s why Safeco Insurance has made caring for pets simple, too.
Here’s how it works:
-
Clients purchase their pet insurance policy.
-
They take their pet to their veterinarian for a covered treatment and pay the bill.
-
They submit a claim for reimbursement.
Policy details
-
Choose from two different policy options: Accident & Illness or Accident, Illness & Wellness.
-
Then select:
-
Reimbursement of 70%, 80% or 90%
-
Deductible of $250, $500 or $1,000
-
Annual limit of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000
Deductible and reimbursement
Policies have a 12-month term deductible, so once the deductible is met, your client won’t have to satisfy it again until the next 12-month plan period. After the annual deductible is met, the reimbursement amount will be 70%, 80% or 90% of the covered invoice, based on the reimbursement percentage selected when the policy was purchased. Reimbursements can be deposited directly into a customer’s bank account or sent via check.
Additional coverage
Customers who opt for the Accident, Illness & Wellness package get fixed reimbursement amounts for common wellness and preventive care items, such as vaccines and flea shots. These coverages are not subject to deductibles, annual maximums or reimbursement percentages.
Multiple pets
Coverage can be purchased for multiple pets. Each pet will have their own policy and premium, and each additional pet policy qualifies for a discount.
EXCLUSIONS
Frequently asked. Does this cover Spaying/neutering? No.
In addition to any benefit or coverage specific exclusion, we will not pay benefits for any Incident that directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, is caused by or results from any of the following, unless expressly covered in an attached endorsement.
Items highlighted in Blue indicate the exclusion does not apply if the Accident, Illness & Wellness Package is purchased.
1. Dental health care, including aesthetic, cosmetic, endodontic, or orthodontic dental services such as caps, crowns or crown amputation, fillings, implants and root canals or planing, unless injury to teeth is caused by an Accident.
2. Incidents resulting from any intentional, neglectful or preventable acts by you, a member of your immediate family, or a member of your household. This includes the failure to use/ implement preventative healthcare products or methods, including vaccinations. This would not deny coverage benefits to an innocent insured who did not commit and is not complicit in the intentional act that resulted in loss.
3. Any diagnosis or Treatment related to:
a. Breeding your Pet;
b. Your Pet being pregnant; or
c. Your Pet giving birth.
4. Hereditary or Congenital Conditions.
5. Prescribed diets, food, vitamins, and nutritional supplements.
6. Organ and tissue transplants, prostheses and related services.
7. Experimental or investigational Treatment or Prescription Medication, including clinical trials, that is not generally accepted in the veterinary medical community as effective or proven.
8. Routine, Wellness and Preventative Care.
9. Incidents resulting from the use of your Pet for professional or commercial purposes. This exclusion does not apply to use of your Pet as a service animal.
10. Incidents resulting from the use of your Pet for, or during the course of committing, any unlawful acts.
11. Cosmetic procedures (dew claw removal, tail docking, ear cropping).
12. Incidents occurring outside of the territory listed in your Policy Declarations.
13. Any Claims caused by or as a result of: invasion; war or civil war; insurrection; rebellion; revolution; military or usurped power; or by operation of armed forces while engaged in hostilities; whether war be declared or not.
14. Services performed by a Veterinarian for their own pet; and
