You may have heard on the news some reports about recent earthquakes around the “RING OF FIRE“. There has definitely been increased earthquake activity! One of these reports also mentioned the California “San Andreas Fault Line”. Experts believe that this fault is wound up like a “tight spring ready to let go“, and according to the records, this fault is overdue for releasing that pressure.
As homeowners, it is extremely important to have earthquake insurance. The CEA was created in 1996, after the 1994 Northridge quake, to allow Californians an opportunity to obtain earthquake insurance at a reasonable price.
If you are a Mercury homeowner policy holder you may have received the letter and the CEA brochure. If you currently have your Homeowner HO3, Condo HO6, DFP (rental property) or Renters policy with Mercury, you are able to obtain earthquake insurance from the California Earthquake Authority “CEA“. Also, there are more options with the CEA which are mentioned in the letter from Mercury.

Is the CEA the only earthquake policy I can buy to protect my home, personal property, and payment for temporary relocation rent while repairs are being made?
Woodland Park Insurance has several options (companies) to obtain earthquake coverage – we would be glad to run you some quotes and discuss this important coverage.
